Where the Money Actually Goes: How TRF Is Different from Other Charity Groups

Filed in The Random Fund  /  June 30, 2025 /

Not all charities are created equal.

We’ve all seen the headlines—nonprofits that spend more on executive salaries and advertising than actual aid. Charity groups like Goodwill have come under fire for paying disabled workers pennies per hour while executives take home six-figure paychecks. Others spend millions on fundraising galas, branding campaigns, or fancy office buildings—using donor dollars for everything except the people they were meant to help.

And that’s not how we do things.

Volunteer accepting donation, no overhead costs.

Zero Overhead. Zero Admin. 100% to People in Need.

At The Random Fund, every dollar donated goes straight to someone who needs it. Not 90%. Not 95%. All of it.

We don’t take salaries. We don’t rent offices. We don’t pay for ad space or software subscriptions with donation money. All operational costs—no matter how small—are covered entirely out of pocket by Promani.

Because we believe that when someone donates $50, they expect $50 to help someone. Not $17 after overhead. Not $4 after admin fees. The full $50.

What Does That Actually Look Like?

It means your donation doesn’t go toward a new website. It pays for groceries for a single dad who just lost his job.

It doesn’t help fund a “community initiative” with no clear outcome. It covers rent for a family about to be evicted.

It’s not stuck in a pipeline of red tape. It’s handed directly to the person who asked for help—quietly, privately, and without judgment.

We don’t believe in asking people to perform their pain for social media. And we definitely don’t believe in rewarding ourselves for helping others. The reward is the help.

Why Trust and Transparency Matter More Than Branding

Raising awareness matters—we get that. The more people who know about a cause, the more support it can receive. But somewhere along the way, too many charities began prioritizing visibility over action.

Some have become more brand than mission—investing in marketing teams, social media campaigns, and PR strategies to stay top of mind. But awareness without follow-through doesn’t change lives.

At The Random Fund, we focus on what matters most: impact. When someone makes a donation, every dollar goes directly to someone in need. We cover all operating costs out of pocket—so donations never fund overhead or admin.

When you shop our store or order from Promani Brews, the model is just as transparent: 100% of the profits from those purchases go straight to TRF. That means after covering the cost of production, packaging, and shipping, everything left goes into the fund. It’s an easy way to support the mission through something you already use—without sacrificing integrity.

We don’t need to go viral to make a difference. We just need to be valuable—to the people who trust us with their support, and to the people who turn to us when they have nowhere else to go.

Our model stays simple:

You give.
We cover the costs.
100% of your donation helps someone in need.

No salaries. No bloated budgets. Just real help for real people—with no strings attached.as it should be.

A Better Way to Give

We’re not asking you to fund a system—we’re inviting you to disrupt one. Whether it’s through a one-time donation, a Promani Brews order, or a hoodie from our updated merch store, you’re part of something radically transparent.

This isn’t charity as usual. It’s generosity with accountability. And every time you give, you can do so knowing exactly where your money is going: not into pockets, but into people’s lives.
